Domain Name Server performs the important job of converting a URL into an IP to locate it on the internet. It improves the internet speed, possible reliability improvements, security features and it enables one to access geo-blocked content. Google DNS server and Cloudflare server are one of the good ones available on the market. Google DNS server has the address 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 while Cloudflare DNS server has the address 1.1.1.1. Here is how to go about changing the DNS.

Step 1

Press Windows key and I on your keyboard, Settings will open.

Step 2

Click Network and Internet.

Step 3

Scroll down and double-click Network and Sharing Center.

Step 4

On left top, click Adopter Setting.

Step 5

Right-click the connection you are connected to and select Properties.

Step 6

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.

Step 7

Select the option Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the DNS server settings you want to use. We will use Google DNS server as an example here.

Step 8

Click Validate settings upon exit and click OK.
